Music Ministries
Come and Worship the Lord with Us!
At Colonial, our music ministry is designed to edify believers and bring glory to Christ. Every selection is prayerfully chosen, carefully prepared, and skillfully presented so that both the music and the lyrics accurately portray the God who has redeemed us and made us new in Christ.
Why Do We Sing?
- To Glorify God – Give people a right view of God and represent Him accurately.
- To Praise God – Direct attention to Him, not to performers or presentations.
- To Edify Believers – Promote spiritual growth and understanding rather than mere entertainment or emotional stimulation.
- To Unify the Church – Draw believers together in corporate worship rather than divide them by personal musical preferences.

Because of these commitments, we are intentionally traditional and culturally conservative in our approach to worship. We sing hymns, gospel songs, and newer compositions that reinforce sound doctrine and theology, giving voice to truths that might otherwise be difficult to express. Two pianos, organ, and keyboard/strings provide the primary accompaniment for congregational singing, under the direction of a well-prepared songleader. Our 65-voice choir, at times joined by orchestral instruments, leads us in worship each Sunday morning and every other Sunday evening.

Getting Started
For those interested in serving, we encourage Adult Choir membership as the best starting place for developing your musical gifts and abilities. Choir enrollment is open in May, August/September, and January. They rehearse each Sunday afternoon at 4:45 p.m., and at 4:30 p.m. during the six weeks leading up to our Christmas and Easter programs. Members must be in at least grade 10 and hold church membership. Please reach out to Pastor Kevin by email: pksuiter@colonialindy.org.
